A love for rhyme

Ever since his Uncle Kris bought him a hardcover copy of Where the Sidewalk Ends by poet Shel Silverstein, Kyle Lowery has had a deep passion for rhyming words.

At the start of his freshman year, standing on his high school campus after a morning Bible Club meeting, his youth pastor Eric asked, “What do you want to do over the next four years?” Without hesitation, Kyle replied, “Rap and tell people about God.” Eric responded, “Why don’t you do both?”

One year later, Kyle won his high school talent show with a live performance of his very first original Christian rap song, “Amazing Grace.” That led to church outreach events, youth group appearances, and opportunities to share his music throughout Central California.

By graduation, Kyle had released his first rap CD, The Contrast. Its cover featured the clean-shaven senior photos his mom had a friend take, along with his first rapper name: K-Low. Of the 650 students in his graduating class, 550 received his CD.

From K-Low to Lowery

Through college and his twenties, Kyle continued recording music and sharpening his skills. After enduring a divorce and confronting mental health struggles, he changed his artist name to Lowery and approached recording with a renewed seriousness.

The name grew out of the first line of “Second Chance,” a song he wrote immediately after his divorce: “Put my name on it? It better be great.” His producer friend Ryan had texted him words of encouragement: “you don’t see this now but this divorce is a second chance.”

Kyle found a new dedication to making excellent songs that boldly and clearly share his Christian faith. By being honest about his hurts and healing, he hopes to help others navigate their own lives.

Faith, family, and Bad Rap

Now a husband and dad, Lowery keeps Jesus first, following Matthew 6:33 and prioritizing family and friends. He hopes his music will reach millions, while remaining faithful to the people and commitments that matter most.

Lowery has also teamed up with his high school friend Andrew Dickens to create an app under the banner of Bad Rap. The idea began with Lowery’s desire to make his content and music available for free and build a community of fans over time.

Today, listeners can reach out to the Bad Rap team and count on Lowery bringing Las Vegas heat to every track—aiming to be a light in a world of darkness.
