2 Cents

“2 Cents” by K-Low

Everyone listen

This is my 2 cents

Section 1

Our view is distorted

babies aborted

The crazy thing is that people support it

Food is in shortage

they can’t afford it

Look at the news more death is reported

We want direction we don’t want trust

Want to be in control that’s what’s wrong with us

We want self help so we can help ourselves

Turn to Oprah our Bibles on the shelves

No one can tell which way to go

Blind leading the blind on talk show radio

They get advice from mere men

Instead of the God who created them

It’s so backwards man the way we think

Especially when we think our life is a blink

Just a vapor and just a mist

We ask and don’t have cuz we ask amiss

We come to God only on our terms

Read his word but refuse to learn

Think we’re Christians cuz we go to church

But don’t esteem God’s ways of any worth

This faith that we hold is not just a feeling

Not based on the fact that we meet in a building

From our birth we’ve been birthed in sin

We get born again only thanks to Him

We say we want a difference but we don’t want change

Cuz our friends at school might look at us strange

They might say we’re lame and might leave us out

If you proclaim to them what life is about

But do we love ourselves more than we love them

Wouldn’t share our faith cuz of embarrassment

Well if you’re ashamed of the One who saved you

And refuse to share the message He came and gave you

Then I’d check my life to see if I’m alive

Or has nothing changed and you’re the same old guy

That you were just a couple years ago

Before you heard the word at that outreach show

Interlude

See I’m just wondering, is there a contrast in your life today?

Are you the same person that you’ve always been?

There should be a change.

Section 2

Did it really take root or were you faking it

Did you truly believe and truly take it in

Or did you just raise a hand and that was it

No change in your heart and you didn’t repent

Or maybe it was legit maybe you did commit

Now you’ve been running this race hoping not to quit

Well whatever the case is stick to what’s true

Know that Jesus Christ is watching over you

Do we only seek God when it’s convenient

But when He comes to judge He won’t be lenient

We don’t say lies as much as we sing them

Say we read our Bibles but fail to bring them

To church service on every Sunday

We praise God then but are silent on Monday

There’s a sinner living in my bathroom mirror

So I seek God daily and my sight is clear

Hear the boom of the bomb as it detonates

And the shouts of the people as it resonates

And the smoke and the clouds all dissipate

And it’s aired on the news in the United States

This beast of sin must come to a stop

But it can’t be done by any soldier or cop

Only by the power of the almighty God

Who was hung on a cross for His love for us

Perilous times what did you expect

Events like Columbine and Virginia Tech

No matter how hard we try to forget

It’s all because of sin last time I checked

So let’s recollect in retrospect

This time we reject it’s time we accept

His death and resurrection was the cure for sin

For salvation of anyone who would accept Him in

I’m paralyzed by the sight in front of my eyes

Soldiers on the front lines and they’re giving their lives

Terrorized by the lies that have left us blind

There’s sin on both sides recognize we need Christ

They roast and they boast braggadocio

Their actions on this campus are atrocious yo

They turn from His word and they don’t pray

Man they live in sin it’s a slow decay

Because sin when conceived it will bring death

Entangle and strangle take away breath

So repent from the sin that’s in your life

And begin to live for Jesus Christ

Interlude

Sin is what’s killing us.

Turn to Jesus and He’ll save you from your sin.

Accept Him in.

Let’s go.

Section 3

So really is this life as we know it

We say we love God but fail to show it

Not based in faith but our emotions

So it changes every day like the tides of the ocean

In a world falling in Satan’s trap

Trading God’s love for Satan’s crap

Church needs to wake up from her nap

And take the gospel all across the map

Outro

Just take the gospel all across the map

Just take the gospel all across the map

Wake up Church. We’ve got the gospel. This world needs it. Let’s give it to ‘em.
