Rescue

Rescue by K-Low

Yeah

Lord, I pray for those who have followed You in the past,

but just aren't following You today.

God, we need you to come to our rescue.

Rescue us, Lord. We need You.

Verse 1

Says he's been doing good, fighting back tears,

wearing a mask all these past years.

He keeps his surface calm every Sunday morning,

but underneath it all, man, his life is storming.

Hides behind a smile like every day,

tries to convince others everything's okay.

But this lie that he's living keeps him awake,

cause instead of living real, he'd rather live fake.

Tries to escape all the hurt and pain,

living two lives, pushing people away,

keeping to himself and not willing to pray,

having no faith in God or what His Word would say.

Now he feels deserted cause his parents split,

so he wears long sleeves just to cover his wrists.

He wonders to himself, is this as bad as it gets?

Could he be more alone or any sadder than this?

Prayer

Lord, I pray for him today.

God, I pray that he would come back into a right relationship with You.

God, he's just living fake.

He's going to church, he's got friends at church.

But God, I see the way that he lives at school.

God, I hear things about him, Lord.

I pray that he would follow You.

Verse 2

Things in his life getting even worse,

stealing drug money from his mama's purse.

Church friends don't know what's been going on,

but they begin to wonder why he's been gone,

continuing on in his downward fall,

getting in fights in the school halls,

puking after class in the bathroom stalls.

The aftermath has his back up against the wall.

Staying up late with sleepless nights,

hoping in the morning it'll be alright.

But it just won't come in a spiritual sense

until he hits rock bottom and truly repents.

Too late now, he thinks to himself,

not knowing that God wants to be his help.

The only one who can get him out,

yo, the only one who can remove the doubt.

Prayer

Lord, I pray for him again.

God, I know that I'm going to see him tomorrow.

And God, I've got so much that I want to share with him.

If he only knew the truth.

God, as him and I sit down tomorrow at lunch to talk,

God, I pray that you give me words to speak.

That you would use me to share life.

Verse 3

Cast your care on him because he cares for you.

Cast off the sin that's ensnaring you.

Know that God knows what you're going through.

It's his love he wants to be showing you.

Cause unlike a tree, man, he'll never leave.

Cling to Jesus and just believe.

He's a good shepherd who can bring you peace.

In the midst of the storm, his love won't cease.

God will take you back no matter what you've done.

Just chase and embrace his only son.

Yo, his name's Jesus, the beginning and end.

Who tends to tend to a sheep who are sinning for him.

If you're broken from the battle, you can be restored.

Surrender your life to the Lord.

I hope that last line struck a chord.

To rescue you is what he came here for.

Prayer

Thank you so much, Lord, for the good work that you've done.

God, I thank you that he knows you now.

God, that we're having Bible studies weekly, Lord.

That he's growing in his faith, that he's repented.

And he's turned back to you.

God, thank you that you've rescued him from his sins.

Thank you that you've rescued me from my sins.

And your word says that you desire to rescue this world from their sins.

God, I pray for this world.

I pray for my friend.

I pray that you'd use him to affect this world.

With your good news, Lord.

That he could share the same word that I shared with him.

Lord Jesus, this is how disciples are made.

I pray that you would do work.
