2 Dogs

2 Dogs by K-Low

Yeah

D.L. Moody once compared the flesh and the spirit to two dogs.

We've got two dogs in our lives, flesh and spirit,

but you only have enough food to feed one or the other

and whichever one you feed's gonna live and the other one's gonna die.

Who are you feeding?

Hook

You feed one dog and the other dies.

One dog barks truth and the other lies.

You feed one dog and that dog will rise.

Which one will win? Just compare their size.

You feed one dog and the other dies.

One dog barks truth, the other lies.

You feed one dog and that dog will rise.

Which one will win? Just compare their size.

Verse 1

This dog is a hound and his name is Flesh.

Don't keep him around, starve him to death.

Don't feed him scraps or he'll eat your best.

Christians beware, he can bite the blessed.

He's got sin paws and evil jaws,

iniquity teeth that chew up laws.

He licks your face, then he bites your hand,

then he grabs your feet till you cannot stand.

He will not flee unless he's attacked,

won't fetch a stick and bring it back.

He shows up to play but we rarely run,

cause we think he's a dog who offers fun.

But he's the one who offers hate,

bites your life then it's too late.

Little do we know that we are numb

because man's best friend is what he's become.

Verse 2

Allow me to introduce the dog named Spirit.

Howling hope all day, you can always hear it.

Got a tongue of truth and teeth of peace.

Discipline skin and his feet won't cease.

To walk every day aiming to obey,

everything that his master say.

And he stays away from garbage cans,

and he only eats food from his master's hands.

And he stands in his master's lawn,

and walks with him from dusk till dawn.

A dog on a leash yet forever free,

and the streets on his own he'll never be.

He can see clearly with eagle eyes,

got humility of regal size.

Keeps his head down, nose to the ground,

on the trail to heaven and he's homeward bound.

Verse 3

Flesh is the dog that we must kill.

He'll eat you alive, man, you know he will.

Dog from the pound, he's a mangy mutt.

He's behind your eyes checking out her butt.

He calls old friends hanging at the bar.

He gets you drunk and helps drive the car.

Don't throw him a bone, just leave him alone,

cause he does those things God won't condone.

Then comes Spirit, the dog to choose.

If Spirit wins, then flesh will lose.

No more parties and no more booze.

Just hope, joy and peace and grace and good news.

Flesh is a dog with a hostile howl.

Spirit is a dog with a gospel growl.

To feed flesh means death, so break his bowl.

Feed Spirit instead and save your soul.

You feed one dog and the other dies.

One dog barks truth, the other lies.
